Is MLM Sponsoring Easy?
One question commonly asked about Internet Network Marketing is "Do I have to know and recruit a lot of people to be successful?"
The frequent reponse from most upline sponsors is something like the following...
"No, you can become very successful in Network Marketing by sponsoring just one person every month or two and create a substantial residual income.
They will go on to tell you that the people you sponsor do not have to come from your "warm market," (that is, your friends, relatives, and people you already know). They say, just think of all the people you run into every day in your normal activities!
But then they turn around and tell you to make a list of everyone you know, even from a casual relationship. They say to list everyone you can think of for example, people you work with, go to church with, people you do business with, people you went to school with, people you knew before you moved to your present location, etc. and you will be amazed by the number of people that end up on your list.
Will all or even most of these people join you in your Network Marketing business? Probably not, but statistics show that one out of every one hundred names will make your car payment, one will make your house payment and one will retire you!
So, three out of every one hundred isn't too bad! Also, keep in mind that the people on your list also know other people, and will quite often refer you to others that may be interested in joining you in your endeavor!"
Now 97 rejections might not seem like a lot to your sponsor, but I'm sure that it seems like a lot to you! I know that it sure felt like a lot to me!
How many people do you know who can go out and face 100 people they know and get turned away by 97 of them and just continue to keep plugging along trying to recruit or sell products to an disinterested market?
Technically, the response above from the sponsor can be correct if you are lucky enough to sponsor someone that has all the requisite skills and goes on to become a "heavy hitter" in the company. And depending upon your company's compensation plan, that person might be able to carry you along.
However, the odds of you sponsoring a "heavy hitter" who goes out and creates a large downline under you when you only recruit "one person every month or two," is extremely unlikely.
So, are there any options if you don't wish to face massive rejection and the likelihood of your landing a "heavy hitter" early in your Multi Level Marketing career is extremely low?
Instead of seeking out all your friends and family members and rapidly becoming a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) club, or bugging everyone within 30 feet of you as suggested by some sponsors, you need to narrow down your target market. Everyone is not your target market. Your target market is made up of people who are already looking to start a home business, to earn extra money on a part-time basis, are looking for a MLM company to join or are already a member of some other Multi Level Marketing company. You can even further narrow down your niche to only the latter group if you desire. Then get them to come to you and get them to join your company by employing a soft sell method instead of the hard sell methods pushed by many Multi Level Marketing sponsors.
"OK, so just how do I go about accomplishing that?", you ask.
Well first you need to get their attention and interest by offering them something such as a free report or preferably a funded proposal that is relevant to your market and getting them on your mailing or contact list. Then, once they are on your list, you develop a relationship with them by providing them frequent free useful information relative to your product, company, the MLM industry, salesmanship, or marketing, etc. In their eyes you will quickly become an authority figure.
If you have targeted the correct market, you will soon have prospects calling you and asking you what program you belong to and how they can enroll in your team.
